Beneficial Ingredients
In this soap we’ve added Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, as it is close to your hairs natural PH. Using it topically helps hair follicles to lie flat, softening the hair and creating a natural shine.
Rapeseed Oil is a light oil that penetrates deep into the hair shaft, moisturising from the inside out.
Mango Butter, a deeply nutritious and moisturising oil keeps hair healthy, allowing it to repair while promoting growth.
Organic Rosemary Infused Extra Olive Oil is full of antioxidants to fight free radicals, and the infused Rosemary encourages hair growth.
Hints + Tips
To use the shampoo bar just wet your hair thoroughly and rub the bar over your head until you create a nice foamy lather. If your bar is new you might want to use a flannel to help ‘break the seal’. Wash your hair as normal, taking care to rinse out thoroughly before patting dry and adding conditioner. You can carry on using your normal conditioner or try our Lavender + Rose Geranium Hair Conditioner with Organic Broccoli oil.
Soap Care
When you're not using your soap it's best to keep them out of water on a well-drained surface, allowing it to dry between uses. Use a soap dish (wooden dishes with open slats are perfect) or you could even be a bit creative and use a few pebbles from the garden. This will help keep your soap happy so you can keep feeling naturally fresh and fragrant for as long as possible!

Natural Properties
Organic Broccoli Oil is being heralded as a miracle oil. Packed full of vitamins it promotes healthy, strong hair, and inhibits the production of DHT, a hormone that has been linked with hair loss. It is a light, readily absorbed oil that locks in moisture, forming a barrier between your hair and the elements.
Composed of almost 50% erucic acid, an essential fatty acid, and vitamins A,C,K and B, it is particularly effective in hair care, with many using it as a natural replacement for silicones – a synthetic product added to most conditioners to promote smooth, silky hair.
We’ve used it in our conditioner specifically for its ability to tame fly away frizz, smooth the hairs cuticle and to nourish every single strand.
Hints + Tips
Starting at the base of the hair take a pea sized drop and work through the ends, adding more where needed. Use a comb or hairbrush to detangle and spread the conditioner further, you might be surprised by how little you need. Leave to soak in for a couple minutes before rinsing thoroughly. If you have particularly dry hair you may want to leave it on for an overnight mask.

Soapnut Shampoo Bar - Shea & Lava Clay (Coconut Oil Free)
Regular price £6.95 Sale price £4.95HAIR | FACE | HANDS | BODY
SLS FREE | PALM OIL FREE.
This is a COCONUT OIL-FREE moisturising, conditioning and creamy shampoo bar. Enriched with organic cocoa and shea butters which protect the hair and penetrate to provide nourishment. The lather is rich and creamy with the natural scent of cocoa butter.
It also includes Red Lava Clay which reduces dryness in the hair while also removing toxins and product buildup. It improve hair’s elasticity and unblocks your scalp’s pores. It reduces flakiness and aids in detangling and leaves your hair soft and moisturised.
GREAT FOR:
Volumising & Clarifying. Great for hair prone to dryness and breakage or over-processed hair. Great for all hair types especially fine or damaged hair.
+ KEY INGREDIENTS +
+ ORGANIC WILDCRAFTED SOAPNUTS have been used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries to treat sensitive skin, eczema, hair and scalp problems. Soapnuts have skin & hair softening properties, as well as a mild anti-bacterial and anti-microbial function and because of this they have been used in Ayurveda to treat infections, and to help keep the skin/scalp free from bacteria.
+ ORGANIC COCOA BUTTER is a great skin & hair moisturiser. Makes hair more manageable, can help to replenish lost oils and help prevent breakage. Great for fine hair.
+ RED LAVA CLAY has high concentrations of essential minerals like iron, magnesium, calcium, potassium, silica and sodium. These elements aid the detoxification process. The clarifying ability of the clay gets rid of any dead skin cells and build up and leaves the hair shiny and voluminous.
+ ORGANIC SHEA possesses anti-inflammatory qualities and helps protect the hair. Being rich in vitamins A and E, it soothes dryness and repairs damage. Hence, it is extremely effective in providing relief against dry skin, dermatitis, eczema and psoriasis.
HOW TO USE:
-
Comb out dry hair before shampooing. Do not miss this step, especially if you use styling products.
-
Wet bar and lather in hands, apply lather to hair. Or alternatively rub bar directly onto hair and lather well (this works well for me - mid/long length hair).*
*When using the bars, one thing that is very important is to lather the soap up really well, and to use lots of lather when washing your hair. The most common spot, especially for people with long hair, is at the back of the head. You need to work the shampoo into your hair with water and lather up so that the dirt and extra oils not needed by your hair can be washed away.
If you are used to using normal commercial shampoo and shampoo twice, you will notice that the second wash produces a lot more lather. The first wash is mixing with the dirt and excess oil in your hair so the second wash is working on cleaner hair. The same is true for our shampoo bars. So lather up, once or twice. But please make sure to rinse every single time! And then make sure to use an apple cider vinegar hair rinse! -
Massage lather into roots and through lengths of hair. Rinse out thoroughly.
-
You can also make your own hair rinses from water/cooled herbal tea (e.g. chamomile/nettle) with either lemon or apple cider vinegar mix. Ratio should be 4:1 (e.g. 200ml water/50ml apple cider vinegar).
Some find it helpful, to use the apple cider vinegar/herbal hair rinse conditioner before you wash your hair with the shampoo bars. Apply to hair, comb through and rinse out. Then follow shampoo steps above.
Prolong the life of your soap by not leaving soap in a soggy soap dish, or in an area where water is constantly flowing. Allow the bar to dry in between uses.
INGREDIENTS:
Organic Sapindus mukorossi (soapnut) fruit extract, Olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, Oryza sativa (rice bran) oil, Organic butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter, Organic Theobroma cacao (cocoa) seed butter, Organic Ricinus communis (castor) seed oil, Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) oil, Sodium hydroxide*, Moroccan lava clay, Tocopherol (vitamin E).
*After the saponification process no sodium hydroxide remains.

For centuries, rhassoul clay has been used in the ancient world as a prized beauty ingredient. People from ancient Egypt, North Africa, Rome, Greece and Turkey have all gained from the numerous beauty benefits of rhassoul clay for hair and skin
Rhassoul clay is a natural clay mined in the Atlas Mountains of North Africa. It has been mined since the 8th century and is super rich in many minerals including silica, iron, magnesium, potassium, sodium, lithium and trace elements.

But check out the hair and beauty benefits: It helps exfoliate dead skin as well as balance sebum secretion on the skin which helps fight off dandruff. The saponin content in rhassoul clay makes it a good shampoo alternative. Saponins are natural cleansing agents found in certain plant material that forms a sort of lather when mixed with water. Rhassoul clay is cleansing and makes hair soft, silky, shiny and manageable! When you use it as a hair mask, it acts as a natural conditioner to provide the extra silkiness your hair deserves!
+ ROSEMARY - Rosemary has been used for centuries to not only stimulate hair growth but also delay graying. Listed below are the different ways in which the herb promotes healthy hair growth. Rosemary oil can counter hair loss by stimulating blood circulation in the scalp, which, in turn, promotes hair growth. Its high nutritional value and anti-inflammatory properties make it an excellent ingredient for nourishing the hair follicles and soothing the scalp. It also has analgesic properties that make it a good remedy for soothing inflamed scalps. It is known to thicken hair and add shine, and is often used by people who have thin, lusterless hair.

HOW TO USE OUR SHAMPOO BARS
TRANSITION PHASE
When you first switch to our natural shampoo bars, you may go through what is called a “transition phase”. During this time your hair may feel oily, and feel it has a waxy residue on it.
WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN?
There are three reasons this happens:
You may live in a hard water area.
Conventional shampoos and conditioners contain silicone to make your hair feel soft and look shiny. These products leave residues that natural products find hard to remove.
Conventional shampoos tend to remove your natural oils causing your scalp to react and over-produce oils to compensate. So because natural shampoo bare are more gentle it may take time for your scalp to adjust to a new washing method.
BEFORE USING YOUR SHAMPOO BAR.
Try using a baking soda rinse once before you start using your shampoo bar and especially if you live in a hard water area.
1 tablespoon of baking soda (bicarbonate of soda)
1 litre of warm water
Dissolve the baking soda in the warm water and pour over wet hair. DO NOT RINSE OFF.
Proceed to then use your shampoo bar.
USING YOUR SHAMPOO BAR
Solid shampoo bare are more concentrated that normal shampoos.
Lather the shampoo bar in your hands and apply the foam to your hair and wash as you would a liquid shampoo. Rinse and repeat concentrating on getting your whole head and scalp washed.
You may need a vinegar rinse afterwards, it will balance the Ph (soap is a alkaline and our skin is slightly acidic). It will help remove any residue and leave your hair shiny. Happy Zero waste and natural hair to you. xx
Please don’t use your shampoo bar once or twice and decide you don’t like it, everyone’s hair is different and it may take a little time for your hair to adjust. It may take up to two weeks to rid your hair from all the residue left over from the chemicals in the commercial shampoos.
